Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 12 Sep 2026, 15:33 · Europe/Bucharest

Claire Liu holds a slight edge over Anna Blinkova in the Barranquilla final, backed by stronger recent form and first-serve effectiveness.

The match is expected to be close, with over 21.5 total games a solid betting angle. Liu's match winner odds at 1.73 offer minimal value, so caution is advised.

Context

Liu, 26, is ranked 111 and has a 17-7 clay record this year, but her recent hard-court results show she can compete at this level.
Liu's 71.4% hard-court win rate in her last 7 matches is better than Blinkova's 57.1% in 14, and Liu's wins include opponents ranked 107 and 127. Blinkova's wins have come mostly against lower-ranked players, with her only top-100 win in that span against No. 94 Sawangkaew. This suggests Liu may have a slight edge in current hard-court form.
- Liu's last 7 hard-court matches: 5 wins, 2 losses (71.4%)
- Blinkova's last 14 hard-court matches: 8 wins, 6 losses (57.1%)
- Liu's recent wins include No. 107 Quevedo and No. 127 Jeanjean; Blinkova's best win was No. 94 Sawangkaew
Blinkova, 27, is ranked 95 and has a career double fault rate of 4.4 per match, which has been a recurring issue.
In her last 15 matches, Blinkova has saved only 56.3% of break points and averaged 4.5 double faults per match, while Liu has saved 57.1% and averaged 3.1 double faults. Liu's return game is also slightly better, winning 44.6% of return points compared to Blinkova's 48.1%, but Blinkova's higher double fault count could give Liu more break opportunities.
- Blinkova's break point save rate: 56.3% in last 15 matches
- Blinkova's double faults per match: 4.5 in last 15 matches
- Liu's break point save rate: 57.1% and double faults per match: 3.1
Liu, 26, has won her last four matches in Barranquilla without dropping a set, while Blinkova, 27, has also won four straight, including a 6-1 6-0 win in the quarterfinals.
Both players enter the final on four-match winning streaks, but Liu's wins have been more competitive, with three of her four wins coming in straight sets but with closer scores. Blinkova's last two wins were dominant, losing only 11 games combined. This suggests both are playing well, but Blinkova may have more momentum from her recent blowout wins.
- Liu's last 4 matches: all wins, 8 sets won, 0 sets lost
- Blinkova's last 4 matches: all wins, 8 sets won, 0 sets lost
- Blinkova's last two wins: 6-2 6-2 and 6-1 7-6(5)
This is the final of the Kia Open, a WTA 125 hard-court tournament in Barranquilla. The title is on the line, but the surface and stage do not alter the recent form or fitness signals for either player.
- The live tournament listing identifies Day 5 as the final, records a hard surface, and shows both players as playing.
