Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 9 Sep 2026, 15:03 · Europe/Bucharest

Maestrelli's ranking edge is offset by poor recent form, making the 1.03 odds a clear avoid.

The match is likely to be competitive with many breaks, favoring over 21.5 total games and over 9.5 double faults.

Context

Maestrelli, ranked 168, is a 23-year-old Italian with a career win rate of 53.6% and a stronger clay-court background.
His recent hard-court results are poor: he lost to Toby Samuel, Alexei Popyrin, and Bu Yunchaokete, all in straight sets. The only win came against a player ranked 379. This suggests he may struggle to control the match from the baseline on this surface.
- Last 4 hard-court matches: 1 win, 3 losses.
- Losses to Samuel (rank 110), Popyrin (130), and Yunchaokete (124).
- Only win was against Ficovich (rank 379).
Ayeni, ranked 457, is a 26-year-old American with a career win rate of 52.2% and more experience on hard courts.
His last 15 matches show a 5-10 record, but he beat Carl Emil Overbeck 6-2 7-5 in the previous round. That win came against a player ranked 296, which is a solid result for Ayeni. However, his overall form remains inconsistent, so it is unclear if he can sustain that level.
- Last 15 matches: 5 wins, 10 losses.
- Most recent match: 6-2 7-5 win over Overbeck (rank 296).
- Previous hard-court losses to Brady (rank 716) and Chan (rank 492).
Maestrelli saves 64.9% of break points in his last 15 matches, while Ayeni saves only 44.4%.
Ayeni's low save rate suggests his serve is vulnerable under pressure, which could give Maestrelli opportunities to break. Maestrelli's rate is better but still below the tour average, so both players may face frequent break points. This could lead to a match with many service breaks.
- Maestrelli break points saved: 64.9% (87/134).
- Ayeni break points saved: 44.4% (40/90).
- Tour average is typically around 60-65%.

Markets to Avoid

High-risk markets where price or context leaves too little cushion.

Maestrelli's recent hard-court form does not justify such a heavy favorite price.
