Context

Schwaerzler, ranked 171, is a left-hander with a strong recent hard-court record, while Potenza, ranked 488, has been more inconsistent on the surface.
Schwaerzler's 70% win rate on hard courts in his last 10 matches includes wins over higher-ranked players like Gustavo Heide and Andrea Guerrieri. Potenza's 66.7% hard-court record comes from a smaller sample of six matches, with his wins against lower-ranked opponents. This suggests Schwaerzler has faced and beaten tougher competition recently, giving him an edge in this matchup.
- Schwaerzler's last 10 hard-court matches: 7 wins, 3 losses (70% win rate).
- Potenza's last 6 hard-court matches: 4 wins, 2 losses (66.7% win rate).
- Schwaerzler's recent hard-court wins include victories over No. 128 Gustavo Heide and No. 187 Andrea Guerrieri.
- Potenza's recent hard-court wins came against players ranked 192, 296, and 378.
Potenza's recent stats show a first-serve percentage of 58.2% and a break-point save rate of 56.7% over his last 15 matches.
Potenza's first-serve percentage of 58.2% is below the tour average, and his break-point save rate of 56.7% indicates vulnerability when facing break points. Schwaerzler, with a return points won percentage of 34.9% overall and 36.1% on hard courts, could pressure Potenza's serve. If Potenza cannot improve his first-serve consistency, he may face more break points and struggle to hold serve.
- Potenza's first-serve percentage in last 15 matches: 58.2%.
- Potenza's break-point save rate in last 15 matches: 56.7%.
- Schwaerzler's return points won on hard courts in last 10 matches: 36.1%.
Schwaerzler has been involved in multiple three-set battles in his recent hard-court matches.
In his last five hard-court matches, Schwaerzler has played three three-set matches, including a 3-6 6-4 6-1 loss to Andrea Guerrieri and a 2-6 6-4 6-4 win over Gustavo Heide. These extended matches may have accumulated fatigue, especially with a quick turnaround to this second-round match. Potenza, by contrast, has had shorter matches recently, which could give him a slight physical advantage if the match goes long.
- Schwaerzler's last five hard-court matches include three three-set matches.
- Schwaerzler's match on 2026-09-01 lasted three sets against Max Basing.
- Potenza's last three matches were straight-set wins.
