Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 30 Aug 2026, 22:31 · Europe/Bucharest

Gustavo Heide's strong clay-court form and Marques' lack of clay experience make Heide a heavy favorite, but the 1.05 odds offer no value.

Consider Heide -3.5 games or over 21.5 total games as better betting angles, and avoid Marques at long odds.

Context

Heide, 128th in the world, is a clay-court specialist with a career record of 172 wins on clay versus only 23 on hard courts. Marques, unranked, has built his career on hard courts with 56 wins.
Heide's last three hard-court matches ended in straight-set losses, and his first-serve percentage dropped to 48.5% in that sample. Marques has been far more reliable on hard courts recently, winning 73.3% of his last 15 matches and holding serve effectively. This surface gap gives Marques a clear edge in the matchup, though his opponents have mostly been lower-ranked.
- Heide's last 15 hard-court record: 0-3, with only 1 set won and 40.6% of games won.
- Marques' last 15 hard-court record: 11-4, with 67.6% of sets won and 55.4% of games won.
- Heide's career hard-court wins: 23, compared to 172 on clay.
- Marques' career hard-court wins: 56, compared to only 3 on clay.
Heide reached a career-high ranking of 128 but has struggled recently, losing to players ranked outside the top 150. Marques has been competing mainly in lower-tier events but has found consistent wins.
Heide's only win in his last six matches came against a player ranked 289, and he has lost to opponents ranked 40, 171, 231, 264, and 102. Marques has won four of his last five, albeit against opponents ranked 500 or lower. The form gap is significant, but Marques' wins have come against weaker competition, so the edge may be smaller than the records suggest.
- Heide's last 6 matches: 1 win, 5 losses.
- Marques' last 5 matches: 4 wins, 1 loss.
- Heide's recent losses include defeats to players ranked 40, 171, 231, 264, and 102.
- Marques' recent wins have come against players ranked 550, 532, 718, and 663.
Marques' serve has been a key part of his hard-court success, helping him win free points and hold serve consistently. Heide's serve has been less reliable, especially on hard courts.
Marques' first-serve points won percentage of 73.3% is significantly higher than Heide's 68.7% on hard courts. Marques also averages 5.7 aces per match compared to Heide's 2.0 on hard courts. This serving advantage could be decisive in a best-of-three match, especially if Heide's first-serve percentage remains low.
- Marques' last 15 hard-court aces per match: 5.7.
- Heide's last 3 hard-court aces per match: 2.0.
- Marques' first-serve points won on hard courts: 73.3%.
- Heide's first-serve points won on hard courts: 68.7%.
The draw confirms Heide enters as the top seed and Marques as a wildcard, but this does not change the surface or form signals already covered.
- The official draw places Heide and Marques in the same first-round main-draw match, with Heide seeded first and Marques admitted by wildcard.
