Quick Take

Pre-match view

Context last updated 14 May 2026, 08:09 · Europe/Bucharest

Van De Zandschulp's clay edge, 2-0 H2H dominance, and Halys' recent arm injury make him the rightful favorite, but his confidence volatility adds risk.

The best betting angle is over 9.5 games in the first set at 1.80, with a 4.4-point edge, while a tiebreak in the match is also likely given both players' serving strength and recent patterns.

Context

Sky Sports reported two months ago that Halys' match against Draper was his first ATP Tour match since the US Open because of an arm injury.
- He has played 15 matches since returning, but his 2-4 clay record this season suggests the surface may test his recovery.
- His opening win here was straight sets, but against a lower-ranked opponent, so the arm has not been tested in a long battle yet.
Van de Zandschulp leads the H2H 2-0, with the clay meeting ending 6-1, 6-2 in 2024.
- In that clay match, Halys won only 34% of second-serve points and was broken five times.
- Van de Zandschulp's return game (49% return points won in H2H) neutralizes Halys' biggest weapon.
After Roland Garros 2024, he said he no longer looked forward to matches and considered retiring.
- Two months later, he beat Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets at the US Open.
- His recent form includes a 6-3, 6-0 loss to Cerundolo and a tight three-set loss to Khachanov, showing inconsistency.
